Park Place Volvo renews commitment to Down Syndrome Guild

Park Place Volvo, Dallas' premier Volvo dealership, is encouraging people to walk not to eschew the dealership's luxury automobiles but to raise funds and awareness for a disorder that affects many Dallas children, Down syndrome.

Park Place Volvo and Hillwood Development Corporation are the title sponsors of the Buddy Walk, an annual fundraiser for the Down Syndrome Guild, a non-profit that provides accurate and current information, resources and support for people with Down syndrome, their families and the community.

It's a cause close to our hearts, said Tripp Steele, general manager of Park Place Volvo. My dealership family has opened their hearts to my daughter, Jordan, who has Down's. We hope to show that same support for other families of children with the same condition, and encourage the good work being done by the Down Syndrome Guild here in Dallas.

The Buddy Walk will take place Sunday, Nov. 9 at White Rock Lake. The family-friendly event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the one-mile walk starting at 1 p.m. at Flagpole Hill. Funds raised will help support local programs and national research, education and advocacy efforts. Also this fall, Park Place Volvo is celebrating a new home in the Dallas area. In November, Park Place Volvo moves from Irving to Dallas, with a new location at the corner of Lemmon and Inwood, alongside other Park Place luxury dealerships.

We are excited to be in the middle of the community we serve, said Steele. This new location will be more convenient for our customers, and will offer the same excellent service for which Park Place Dealerships are known.

The Down Syndrome Guild offers parent-to-parent support to more than 1,000 families with new babies, young children, school age children, and adults with Down syndrome through personal visits, information packets, and/or quarterly informative gatherings. A trained Guild member is part of the team at the Down Syndrome Clinic at Children's Medical Center, which assists families with new babies and young children. The Down Syndrome Guild publishes monthly newsletters that contain information about area activities and services, as well as articles on medical, educational, developmental, and social topics.
